StackWise — Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the StackWise app handles. The short version: the sessions you log stay on your device; we collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it; and we never sell your data or ask for your real-world identity.
Data stored on your device
Everything you log in StackWise — cash and tournament sessions, buy-ins, cash-outs, venues, notes, tags, and the statistics derived from them — is stored only on your device. StackWise has no user accounts, no login, and no cloud sync, so the content of your sessions is not uploaded to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. (Separately, we collect anonymous usage analytics about how the app is used — see the next section.)
Usage analytics
StackWise uses PostHog as a first-party product-analytics provider to measure how the app is used so we can improve it. We capture anonymous, aggregate usage events — for example, which screens are viewed, when a session is started or ended, when the paywall is shown, and the outcome of a purchase. These events record what happened and coarse, non-financial context — for example the stakes level (like “2/5”), whether a session won or lost, how long it ran, and whether a venue was selected — but never the amounts you log (buy-ins, cash-outs, payouts, or profit), not the free-text contents of your sessions (we don’t send venue names, notes, or tags), and no name, email, phone number, or precise location.
Analytics events are associated with a randomly generated, pseudonymous identifier — not your real-world identity — and may be linked to the anonymous subscription identifier described below so we can understand how free and Pro users differ. This is first-party analytics, not cross-app advertising tracking: StackWise uses no advertising SDKs, sets no IDFA, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Subscriptions
StackWise Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and your subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider.
- Apple / Google handle all payment information. StackWise never receives or stores your credit card or billing details. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat receives a store-issued purchase receipt and an anonymous, randomly generated app-user identifier in order to verify whether your subscription is active. This is not tied to your real-world identity. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
Aside from the anonymous usage analytics described above, this receipt and identifier are the only other data StackWise transmits off your device, and they are used solely to determine whether you have an active Pro subscription.
Permissions
On Android, StackWise may request the notification permission to show an optional ongoing “live session” notification while a session is running. It is used only for that purpose. The app logs sessions fully offline and never blocks on the network; analytics events are sent in the background when a connection is available.
Children
StackWise is intended for adults of legal age to play poker in their jurisdiction. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your data, your control
Because all session data lives on your device, you are in complete control of it. You can edit or delete any session in the app, and uninstalling the app removes all stored data — there is no server-side copy of your sessions for us to hold. The anonymous usage analytics described above are retained by our analytics provider; because they are pseudonymous and never tied to your identity, they cannot be traced back to you individually.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and post the revised version at this URL.
